Tickets for the upcoming 21st Shanghai International Film Festival, to be held from June 16 to 25, will go on sale online and at local cinemas next month.
According to Yu Xiufen, director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, "Film Panorama," a traditional and popular program of the festival, is usually a very popular part for film enthusiasts.
So far, the film festival has received 3,447 entries from 108 countries and regions. More than 500 movies from varied genres will eventually be selected to screen as part of the festival.
The movies will be exhibited in varied units, including "Tribute to the Masters," "4K Restoration Films" and "3D Opera Film." This year's "Film Panorama" will also expand the technology of simultaneous subtitles to 15 screening halls and 120 movies.
More cultural services for Shanghai residents
The administration also announced on Wednesday that they will open a new location at 48 Yueyang Road to provide local citizens with free cultural relic authentication and advice.
This will bring the number of the city's free cultural relic authentication and advice centers to four, including those at the Shanghai Cultural Relic Shop, Duoyunxuan Group and Shanghai Association of Collectors.
Yu said that diverse programs covering reading, sports, film and performance will be hosted in the community centers of Shanghai to cater for citizens' growing needs for culture and arts.
